I Should Be...

I should be more productive.

I should be a better mom.

I should be further ahead.

I should be happier.

I need to workout.

I need to get motivated.

I need to get my shit together.

I have to drive the kids to school, practice, work.

I have to stop drinking so much.

I have to lose weight.

What percentage of your thought starts with “I should”, “I need to”, or “I have to”?

How do those words make you feel?

Probably not very good.

They imply what you’re doing isn’t good enough & that you should be different.

They create feelings of obligation & dread.

No wonder you don’t feel excited about your life!

What if instead you thought:

I want my body to feel good.

I want to make the most of my time.

I want to see how much I can achieve.

I want to provide opportunities for my kids.

I’m doing it right.

I’m exactly where I should be.

I’m the perfect mom for my kids.

I’m lucky to have a body that is able to move.

It’s a slight shift in language but it changes things significantly.

Those thoughts feel positive.

They imply you are good enough but want to be the best version of yourself.

They create feelings of inspiration & power.

What to change how you feel about your life?

Start to pay attention to your thoughts. Notice the words you use and the feelings they create.

Change your thoughts, change your life.
