If you drink more than you planned...
If you ate foods off your diet...
If you weren’t as productive as you wanted to be...
It doesn’t mean you are bad.
And it doesn’t mean you’ll never be able to stick with it.
Beating yourself up & shaming yourself will not help you achieve your goal.
It’s not motivating.
And, it often causes you to slip further away from where you want to be.
You get to decide what you make it mean when you don’t do something you planned to do.
You can decide that something is wrong with you & you’ll never be able to do it.
Or you can decide that you aren’t perfect but are still working towards your goal.
If you are driving somewhere & have to take a detour, you don’t tell yourself that you’ll never get to your destination.
You also don’t tell yourself that you have to start all over & all the miles you’ve travelled don’t count.
You may get there later than planned, but you keep going.
The road to reach your big goal almost surely won’t be straight & smooth—expect that.
But it doesn’t mean you’ll never get there.
Learn from your setbacks.
Have compassion for yourself.
You got this.
